Vic's eldest brother Mick and his wife Herta and their daughter Alice came to see Vic today. It was good to see the three brothers all together again sharing stories of their memories from their childhood. They are coming back tomorrow and Vic's sister Rosemarie and other sister Diana are also coming too so they will all be back together again in one (very small) house.
Vic is all settled down for the evening and Rod and Moe went up at 9.30pm, mum is now going up too and I won't be long either. We are all bloody knackered. My mum has to get up at 2.30am to change one of Vic's syringe drivers, the other one lasts for 24 hours and the district nurse changes that one. His pain seems to be quite well controlled at the moment and he doesn't have too many points where he rambles and talks bollocks but how long that will last I don't know. Otherwise he sleeps a lot, we all laugh quite a lot, he still says how lucky he is and he still says thank you and apologises profusely for all the work he causes.
He is confined to bed all the time except for one venture onto the commode but that didn't last long as his back started to hurt. Mum and I turn him onto his side and back onto his back a few times during the day. His appetite is still good but we have to fit meals around naps so sometimes his dinner is microwaved a couple of times before he actually eats it. He still drinks lots of tea and never turns down chocolate, but as his sister-in-law cleverly reminded us Chocolate can help produce endorphins and we all know how good they are.
Ledley gets a long walk everyday thanks to Rod and Moe who are enjoying the lovely countryside around us. He's been a really good boy lately thanks to them.

Just read your update of yesterday.
So glad that you have Vic at home and he is as comfortable as possible. Its good to know that there are folk caring for you too - you are just as important! My thought and prayers are with you all. You don't need to know someone well to empathise with what they are going through.I nursed my own mother in similar circumstances so I can understand the surreal world you are living in. Keep strong.
Love Helen
hi uncle vic and sue,
having seen first hand how you are both handling this, with the help of sue's mum and aunt i must say i am in complete awe - i dont need to say 'be strong' because you are, but i would like to say how much it fills me with pride to be related to people with so much willpower and strength. keep going as best you can and rest assured in the knowledge there are so many people here to help you when you need it.
i hope to see you very soon lots of love to you all x x

Ha! once a Yid Always a Yid spurs forever love from Jim Gardener and Family,
Good bright and sunny morning to all of you.
"Tired" - umm, how much of an understatement is that?
We are pleased that Vic and yourself have had so many friends and family to visit him, give support, walk Ledley, help in your business, cook, clean and do whatever else needs doing.
Its comforting I guess for everyone to know that Vic's pain levels are appearing to be under control, and that he is aware of how much those around love and care for him.
Love and prayers as always.

Hi Vic.
It's so difficult to know where to start, I'm only here because I asked why you hadn't answered the phone at work for a while. Some tasks were always below you but if it was about golf I could always get through. Shit happens but we always hope it's not to the goodens out there like you. Apart from your golf your only downside was being a Tottenham fan but at least you win trophies unlike us long suffering QPR fans. I know your family will be doing all they can to make you confortable, you are in our thoughts here. Tim, Justin and the wife(Dawn, yes we're still married after six months) say hi. With all our love. Neil Sherry, wsherryandsons@hotmail.com
Mick, Alice and I went to visit Vic on Saturday and Sunday and it was great to see him again. Bearing in mind that there has been a gap of over 30 years to catch up with, it was great
to start filling in all those blanks. Alice cant believe she has missed out on such a great uncle (or should I say uncles Rod)! I still have a vision of a gorgeous shy little boy with thick curly hair who we couldn't stop cuddling. He is still as sweet today!
Much of the time was spent talking about his son and daughter who sound really delightful and of whom he is very proud. If they are reading this it would be great to meet you but most importantly it would be great if you could visit him. It takes a situation like this to realise how fragile life is and how you need to put aside all differences so as to not spend a life with regrets!
Love to you all and thank you all for eating my schnitzels and kartofelpuffer - am waiting for your next request Vic!
Love H
Great family reunion over the weekend and so pleased that Alice got to meet Vic and the rest of the family at last. It's so re-assuring to know Vic's got so many close friends and such a lovely, caring wife in Susan - an added bonus being the care and attention provided by Dianne and Claire.
I'm afraid it's a frantic rush at work today but I would suggest (in support of others) that any negative comments (that are likely to be hurtful to all parties) are left OFF the blog.
I/we'll keep in touch.
Love to you all,
Mick
Lots of love as always to you both.
We have a cherry tree in our garden just like yours - now it reminds me of you every time I look out of the window. And good to hear you have a trainee plumber in your house ! What a talented girl that Susan is!

Hi all
Just arrived home after the scenic route that Jay and I took to get home, Jay thought it a good idea to try and get home without the sat nav - how wrong was he ha..... Still we did eventually arrive at Bury or was it Yarmouth for late dinner, at least he did choose a good restaurant. Well Vic what can I say, just how lucky are you to have not one but three wonderful ladies pampering after your every whim, who not only care for you but obviously love you dearly, they are all truly wonderful. It was great to see you doing so well and you happy smiling face (wind again I suppose!). You have such a fantastic view from your window and the summer house is lovely, I can just see you sitting in it sunning yourself - bliss. Anyway I will come and visit again next week, your turn to buy the chocolates. Love kisses and cuddles to you all - Love Lyn & Tony XX
Dear Suz and Vic,
So glad the siblings could all get together and enjoy the day. At least with Vics pain under control he can enjoy things like that more again. Thank God for Mum (and you too Auntie Claire - Thankyou). I hope you took lots of pics - it was nice to see them all together for the wedding and when a family has been apart for so long it's lovely they can all get together again and catch up, especially with Rod there too.
Lots of love and kisses to you both
